Horndean supporters were asked to submit their questions for manager Kevin Adair to answer following his recent arrival at the club.
Michael - Are you excited for the challenge ahead?
KA - “Yes, definitely! I can’t wait to get going. We’ve been talking about this for the past couple of weeks, and now it’s about getting the backroom staff in place, starting to meet the players, and getting everything organised.”
Talan - What style of football are you looking to implement here?
KA - “We’re aiming to play an attacking style of football that people want to come and watch. Of course, the main thing is that it needs to win us games.”
Jason - Are you looking to retain any of the existing squad, or reunite with any former players?
KA - ''I’ve spoken to nearly all of the current squad. Some are interested in staying, others want to try different things, which is fair. I’m also in touch with some of my old players, not just recent ones but from a few years back. We’ve also got other names on the list such as players who either have played for me or the club before and we’re keen to bring them in, especially since many are local.”
Rob / Peter - What are your ambitions for the coming season?
KA - ''The main goal is to galvanise the team early and make this a club that players want to be at. If we can get a good start and the group settles, we can start setting targets. For now, it’s about building a strong foundation and seeing where it takes us.”
Jake - What do you think the biggest challenges will be?
KA - ''Adjusting to the new league will be a challenge, though I’ve been in it before so it shouldn’t take long. Another priority is securing our players as soon as possible to get things moving.”
Katie - Can you tell us a bit about your background as a manager?
KA - “I played most of my football at Liphook, my local club, with a couple of brief spells at Alton. I became player-manager at Liphook, and then seven years ago I took over as manager at Alton. We had some really good times there gaining promotion from Step 6 to Step 5, and navigating a league move from the Wessex League to the Combined Counties League, which was a tough challenge.”
Jack - What are your thoughts on Horndean so far?
KA - “It’s been very welcoming. There’s a great group of people here, all showing enthusiasm and willingness to help move the club forward. It’s encouraging to see everyone so keen to progress and support the team.”
